“So teach us to number our days that we gain a heart of wisdom.” – Psalm 90:12
On June 24, 2008 my urologist said to me, “you tested positive.” With those words a numbing feeling came over me. I have cancer. Me? Yes, me. This cancer is a located in my prostate and is, statistically speaking, very curable. God’s Word reminds me that He has a high goal for my life—namely to conform me into the image of His Son. Furthermore, He can and will use whatever mean He so desires to accomplish that end—even cancer. God seems to value character more than our comfort, often using the very elements that cause us the most discomfort as His tools in fashioning that character.
So where do I go from here? Sometime in the very near future I will be undergoing a radical prostatectomy—simply put: cut it out. If the cancer is located only in the prostate—then with it removed—the cancer is gone. But if the cancer has spread to other areas then that will be another ball game altogether. Pray that I can be faithful to continue to trust the Lord through this.
My ministry here at Cornerstone has NOT changed one bit. Classes will be commencing once again in late August.
