~Summer 2008
This summer was a busy, challenging one. It started with the graduation from Cornerstone Bible Institute of Justin and Jenna on May 3rd. It was exciting seeing them receive their diplomas and Jenna giving her valedictorian speech. Three days later our whole family took off with the CBI singers for our annual 3 week choir tour. We traveled over 5,500 miles through the upper mid-western states, visiting 22 churches and meeting lots of new people. It was also a joy to be able to meet up with old friends along the way that we hadn’t seen in years. When we got home we were ready for a break, Right!! Now we just needed to plant the garden, paint the house, stain the deck, fix up the yard, go through the house and do ‘spring’ cleaning, fix a truck that needed work and prepare for classes. We praise the Lord for being able to accomplish most of these things. The kids were also busy. Soon after choir tour, they scattered again. Jenna went to Missouri to be a camp counselor for 9 weeks, Joel went to Uruguay, South America for a 2 week ‘construction’ mission’s trip and Justin stayed home and worked his painting business. Not too far into the summer we were greeted with one of God’s bumps in the road. Dave found out he had prostate cancer. This news slowed us down a little with appointments etc… He is going to have surgery Sept 5th, this coming Friday. We would appreciate your prayers during this coming week especially. Lord willing the cancer is contained in the prostate and after it is removed we pray that no chemo or radiation will be necessary. We will keep you informed. We did get to minister in a number of ways this summer. Dave taught adult Sunday school and also was a speaker at a camp in northern Minnesota, Phyllis taught children’s church, Justin spoke at two camps along with filling the pulpit at a small country church in Nebraska and Joel also was involved in teaching Sunday school to the middle school youth. We had a great summer and it is certainly nice to be back at school. We look forward to a God glorifying school year and we certainly would covet your prayers as we seek to teach young people the Word of God.
Resting in Him,
Dave and Phyllis Georgeff
